Choosing a paint color can be a daunting task if you have no clue where to start. Well, the right place to start is by selecting one of your favorite large pieces in the room such as your sofa, rug or a fabulous piece of art for your inspiration.
Go to your local paint store and collect as many swatches as you can hold...that's what they are for! Do NOT plan on choosing your color at the paint store...if fact it's the worst place to pick a color for "your" space. Did you ever notice the bright blinding fluorescent lighting that's above you....not good! If you were to pick a color at the store it would be like buying an outfit because you love it in the dressing room with the "skinny" mirror....and that "skinny" mirror is not at home with you...you know what I mean!! Same goes for picking a paint color!
Make sure when you bring your swatches home that you look at them with the lights on and off AND in the day time and night time! Southern and Northern exposure will make 2 rooms of the same color look completely different so keep that in mind. Gray-blue are especially affected by lighting...it can look purple in some light.
Floor lighting and ceiling lighting will greatly affect color. So make sure you take the time to put some swatches up on your walls in different areas of the room and keep them there for a few days to view them in all lighting and times of the day. Most paint brands sell small pods so you can paint about a 2'x2' area of true color instead of those small 2" swatches.

As the frenzy of the Holidays comes to a close and the kids are getting ready to go back to school we realize it's time.....every corner of the house seems to have gotten more cluttered with SHHTUFF!! Time to get rid of some out dated-better used somewhere else clothes, unused kitchen gadgets and throw away bath towels that the dog shouldn't even sleep on!! I started in my master closet....while I have my own system for my beloved shoe collection and some inspiration from pinterest of course!
