Darling petite hutch in Luckett's Green Milk Paint!

This was one of my favorite pieces to refinish.  She only stands 60" tall but she stands to claim some attention!!!  I decided to give my new delivery of Miss Mustard Seeds Luckett's Green Milk Paint a whirl.  Let me say....it was my first attempt at milk paint...yes I was nervous.  I did call on a little help from my friend Sheri Carle at Vintage Retold.  She gave me that nudge I needed.  Thanks Sheri!!

Isn't she darling....all 60" of her!

Ok--so I got the Luckett's Green and I also selected Linen for the accent area's.  As it started to dry and do it's milk paint thing.....more and more of the paint was coming off than I wanted!  I thought all the Linen was going to come off and expose ALL of the wood.  I did not want that!!  That's when I gave Sheri a ring.

So I started painting a second coat of Linen....guess what?  It came off in the same exact places....hmmmm  that's probably why it came off in the first place....it was meant to have no paint there!  Go figure!

Next I decided she needed a little darkness to her.  I rubbed the entire piece with Annie Sloan Dark Wax.
Messy...I should be wearing gloves BUT that would be like reading the directions...who does that??

Look at all her loveliness!!

I gave her a little sanding here and there then reapplied dark wax.

All finished and I think she turned out fantastic for my first milk paint adventure!  She is going in my booth at the  Great Lakes Coloma Antique Mall and will be for sale $275.
Have a great day and Thanks for stopping by!

Don't throw it out.....restyle your furniture!

Hello to all my readers....it's been a few weeks since I have been around here.  The Christmas season got the best of me.  With all the shopping, baking and holiday events at the kids schools..it didn't leave much time to work on any projects.  Although, I did have time to squeeze a little painting in for a client that really wanted her end tables and TV console before the holidays hit.

Here is the Tv console and 2 side tables.  Both in great shape just in need of a little updating.  Don't pay any attention to all the other furniture in the back ground staring at you...ah-hem I will get to it very soon....I really want to park on my side of the garage before we have a foot of snow!!!

I started with the console and since it was going to get lots of use I decided to prime it first.  Which I don't normally prime when using chalk paint but I did for extra measures.  This is one of my favorite primers...why can't primer be mixed any darker?

This primer actually looks a tad purple....yikes!!
She is all finished and sealed with 3 layers of Annie Sloan Wax.

Here we have the side tables that my client wanted only the apron and legs restyled.  Great idea-a good call on her part.

Added a slight distressing to the details.

And the finished tables with a layer of wax.

So what do you think of these restyled tables?  No need to buy new tables when you can give them a face lift with a little paint.  I love working with Chalk Paint especially since I can work indoors with no fumes and the sanding stays at a minimum.

If you have some old furniture that is outdated and your thinking of tossing it out....try to give it a new life by painting it.  If you are in the area and would like us to restyle a piece of furniture give us a call at 269-876-9215 Copper Roof Interiors LLC  for a quote.

Have a great day you all.....and see you soon.  I have some new projects I want to show you!

Old Chalkboard Door project!

Today I wanted to share a quick project that I needed for a display piece in my booth.  Super easy and functional!  First the HUNT....gather and load....Yep...loaded all by myself!  I can ALWAYS count on help with the loading at Lowe's or Home Depot but at thrift store....not so much...they just say "good luck!"

Getting large pieces into your vehicle can sometimes be a challenge...especially when it's already full of treasures!  You have to be creative sometimes and your kids have to duck down all the way home!!

Ok...to start I had to decide whether I wanted to just paint over the whole thing or take a layer or two off.  I notice some red popping thru so I put a good slathering of Strypeeze on it and let her do her thing.  It was so random where the white paint came off...just as I suspected some red came thru....wahoo...then it started to randomly crackle.  Way cool!  I sure wish you could see it up close.

What color do I pick?  With that Red showing thru I picked MMS milk paint Flo Blue!

I used Rust-Oleum Chalk Board latex paint for the inside panels.  This stuff has to be shaken up very well.

Yep, it needs 2 coats!  Then to prime for chalk you have to let it cure for 3 days then take a piece of chalk on it's side and cover the entire chalk board piece then wipe clean with a damp cloth then repeat.

Voila...there you have it!  All finished and in it's home!

You all have a great day and Thanks for stopping by and visiting!

Booth 172..announcement!!

I am so excited to tell you that all my hunting, junkin and madness has finally moved from my garage, basement, kitchen table and mom's barn... and found a home for display.  I now have my very own treasure booth (172) at Great Lakes Antique Mall in Coloma, Michigan....and LOVIN it!! My collection is definitely not all antiques...(which I'm learning very quickly that the true antique collectors are not digging the fact that I'm painting some of these rare and expensive treasures)...we also have recycled, revived and rescued goods that are sure to grab your eye!  My love for painting out dated-preloved furniture is a passion of mine and will always be in the store.  Your furniture can be upcycled too with a custom color for your own space....just ask us how!

I just moved in this past week and have much to do yet.  I'm realizing how very small a booth really is....thinking already that Copper Roof Interiors llc needs more space.  Hmmm....let's see how it goes and go from there.  In the meantime I have much to do and get to.  Visit often as it is ever changing and there will also be monthly drawings for give aways!  Here are a few pics of yesterday's madness!

Is that chalk paint or milk paint on that mirror I see?

Goodies, goodies and more goodies!!

Home decor galore!

More to come in the next few days!

To all my local friends, family and followers....take a minute or 2 and stop by Great Lakes Antique Mall...located behind the McDonald's...it's sure to surprise you!  Keep a watch for the Christmas Open House in December!  Thanks for stopping by and showing your support!

Lovely pickin's...

Good morning to all!
Yep..it was a pickin day!  When I go out hunting I never expect to find extreme loveliness....it's usually just a great day out with my pickin friend.  Whatever we find or not find is good with us! We make our way to the top 3 or 4 secret picken places about every other week.
Did I mention my garage looks like a salvage yard!!  Hubs just rolls his eyes!!!

But, Holy Moley...when I spot some loveliness my heart races and my head is picking fabrics and paint colors as I throw myself on it so no one takes my treasure...You pickers out there know exactly what I'm saying!!!  How bout it!!

This pair of chairs is a rare find in perfect condition with the cane all in tact.  Wahoo!
A pair of "Lovelies"
I could see this "couple" in a 2 different coordinating fabrics.

Isn't this full headboard awesome!

This is pure cuteness!
Maybe Pink!!  Annie Sloan here I come!
Do you treasure hunt?  Grab a friend, a bag of snacks (cuz there's no time for lunch) and make a day of it....it will be sure to make you smile!

You can find these treasures all for sale in my "SHOP."

Purple spree at Ikea!

I recently stopped into an Ikea in Canton, Michigan while taking a break from 3 days in the sun at a softball tournament! Don't get me wrong...I love watching my daughter play ball but I needed a break!!!

If you have never been to an ikea you really need to put it on your shopping bucket list! Let me say...COLOR GALORE!!! The displays were so me...purple and a little glamorous!!!

Ikea is known for the european styling, containers, bath accessories and over all organization gadgets. Bath towels...whoa...pick a color..any color!

If you are looking to restyle your living room space and you want the current modern feel...look no further!

It's definitely worth the trip to see what all the hoopla is about when you enter an Ikea store! Plan on staying for a few hours. The restaurant is great and there is even child care for the kiddos!

Beautiful Glam Mirrors!!!

Hello! I’m Joanna, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a wonderful online source for exceptional chandeliers and lighting fixtures. I spend most of my work time scouring the web for the loveliest interior design ideas and images. I love sharing them with blog readers through guest posts such as this. I have a strong affinity for pretty mirrors so today I’ve brought you eight of the most glamorous I’ve found. Some are shown in very unexpected ways, making them even more beguiling. I hope you enjoy the post today!

Glam Mirrors

This exceptionally lovely living room features twin mirrors above matching consoles. The modern Barcelona chair and contemporary table lamps give the space an eclectic feel.

Glam Mirrors

Philippe Starck styles three gorgeous Venetian mirrors with a group of romantic candelabras. He’s well-known for his love of Baroque design.

Glam Mirrors on Stair Case

A gallery wall of mirrors offers a glamorous edge to this pretty stairwell. I love all of the different shapes and how the gold plays off the formal crystal light fixture.

Glam Mirrors in Bedroom

Floor mirrors such as this Venetian one create a big impact in most any space, but they are particularly gorgeous in a bedroom or large bathroom.

Glam Mirror in Kitchen

We don’t often see mirrors used in kitchens, but this gold and silver number looks to have found the perfect spot.

Glam Mirrors in Bedroom

Twin gray mirrors are ornate and pretty flanking the bed in this romantic bedroom. It's such an inviting space for breakfast in bed.

Glam Mirrors in Living Room

Large panels become glamorous mirrors in this luxurious living room. They make the room seem even bigger than it is. I love the mirrored coffee table.

Glam Mirror

An enchanting Venetian mirror becomes a focal point when placed above similarly ornate chest in this foyer. Two light fixtures, like wall sconces or tiny chandeliers, would be pretty hung on either side of the mirror. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 We hope you have enjoyed this article. Don't forget to stop by Arcadian Lighting to find a light fixture that will fit your home today! or tomorrow...

Getting Market Ready BEFORE listing your property!!!

Hi Folks!

Well,  I thought I would take a minute and show you what I have been working on lately!  I have had several calls from Realtors that need what I call...A Property Evaluation for their clients.  So in I go!!!  I am ever so happy when they call BEFORE the home is listed....much easier for the home owner to process and put in motion.

Here is a home that was beautiful and tastfully decorated before I came in...BUT just needed a few tweeks and an outside eye that would get the property in tip top shape for that perfect buyer....AND at top dollar!  Remember, when selling your home...it is about appealing to a wide variety of buyers....not you!!   Here are some Before pics of this property!

Here we have a great sitting area, but not overly large!

Great space joined to the dining area,  but notice...can you really tell how big the space is with the extra furniture?  Notice the rugs eating up property footage!

Here we have the up stairs landing area being used as an office!
Again, the home office!  Not the best display of great space!

This is a potential office or spare bedroom...but it's currently being used as Fido's home!  Would he charm you or scare you???

Help your buyers see what every square inch could be for them!  Help them dream!  Pets and all the evidence of them MUST be removed!!

Here we have a lovely Master Bedroom....with an obstructed view to the gorgeous backyard!

With a little work and removing extra furniture, accesories, rugs and Fido....this property is in tip top shape and Market Ready!  What do you think!  AFTER pics.

Wow....much added floor space!

What a difference!!

Much better use of space in a landing area!

Out with Fido and In with the office!!

Ahhhh....now we can see the backyard and all those amazing windows!!

Here you have it....these were awesome folks to work with and they took all the recommendations we gave them.....what an amazing transformation and much added property footage!
